Environmental Management System (SGA)

Suppliers are strongly advised to implement an environmental management system (SGA). The adoption of the SGA is voluntary and represents a strategic choice and an undertaking to guarantee the protection of the environment.
The implementation of an SGA will help you as external providers to :

  • Assess how your activities impact the environment and how these can lead to negative effects for your business;
  • Identify and assess the probability and dimensions of your own environmental risks;
  • Identify the main strengths and weaknesses of your business from a legislative, technical and organisational viewpoint;
  • Establish the principles that must guide your approach to environmental responsibility;
  • Establish environmental performance goals for the short, medium, and long terms, within the context of a cost/benefit analysis;
  • Identify the human and economic resources needed to achieve the targets set;
  • Communicate responsibilities and instructions at different levels of the organisation and train the staff involved for greater efficiency;
  • Measure your environmental performance for the set targets, making corrective changes when and where necessary;
  • Communicate results achieved, in-house and externally, in order to motivate all of those involved in the continued improvement process.

The environmental management system model (SGA) followed is generally based on the method known as PDCA (Plan - Do - Check - Act) which consists of:

  • Plan: set the goals and the processes needed to provide results in line with the organisation’s environmental policy;
  • Do: put the processes as planned into action;
  • Check: monitor and measure the processes against the environmental policy, goals and achievements, and against the legal and other provisions, then state the results;
  • Act: put in place actions to continuously improve the performance of the Environmental Management System.
