Supply Chain Sustainability

Benelli believes that the evolution of sustainability in the positions responsible for the supply chain is an element that distinguishes and reflects the maturity of a business, as well as being necessary to provide solid answers to the current crisis and to future challenges.

Benelli purchases goods and services for amounts covering more than 50% of turnover, involving hundreds of suppliers and the procurement of thousands of products.

All of these are subject to rules, laws, and assessment/certification by international bodies.

For Benelli, applying sustainability criteria, ensuring and improving the competitiveness of the company, means managing an undisputed “critical mass”, acting with a long-term vision to reduce risks and waste, improving image and credibility, in house and outside, developing product and process innovation, involving know-how along the whole supply line and combining profit and growth with the common good.

The sustainability of the supply chain includes the following aspects:

  • Environmental responsibility, from optimisation of energy consumption to the reduction of pollutant emissions;
  • Health, social responsibility, respect for human rights, for the culture of workers and their families, and for diversity, promoting equal opportunities, and social and cultural growth;
  • Good and transparent practices in business dealings, and professional ethics;

Through the activity of the purchasing officer and the active involvement of the whole company organisation, Benelli intends to deal with the global supply market so as to make its supply chain increasingly sustainable.

From this viewpoint, the purchasing division at Benelli aims to develop the management of, and above all, relations with suppliers as an essential component of its innovation and growth strategies.

The Purchasing Management has worked hard to create a portal dedicated to supply and to ensure that in this virtual meeting place, the main stakeholders in the Benelli supply chain can come together: potential, active and historic suppliers, but also experts from the world of academia, professionals, and colleagues from other company entities in the area, in Italy and throughout the rest of the world.

The supplier portal is an operational tool for managing the stages in the Benelli purchasing process: from research, selection and assessment of suppliers, through to the management of calls for tender and purchase orders.

Moreover, the new website http://www.suppliers.benelli.it/ is also an SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) that is already active in terms of:

  • Boosting innovation in purchased parts and finished products.
  • Supporting and managing inter company projects between suppliers and Benelli.
  • Creating a virtual meeting place that facilitates strategic relations among the stakeholders in our supply chain.
